FirstBank’s Digital Transformation

FirstBank’s Digital Transformation

CHALLENGE

FirstBank of Nigeria, a leading bank with digital ambitions and a pan-African scope, needed to ensure efficient service delivery across all its digital channels. Its existing load balancing platform could not scale to handle the high volume of transactions from its rapidly growing digital user base, resulting in dropped and incomplete transactions. This had commercial and reputational implications.

FirstBank needed a transformation solution that would not only address its current challenges but also support its ambitious growth plans.

VALUE DELIVERED

First Bank achieved its digital services ambition with an ROI of 800% and counting. The solution enabled the bank to grow at a rate of 500% year on year on a single investment. It also enables the bank to serve a diverse set of bank service users, providing traffic optimization that ensures the bank’s infrastructure is always compatible with any device its customers use.

IMPLEMENTATION

We started by taking a robust and client-centric approach, which included a Technical/Solution Definition Workshop. This allowed us to understand FirstBank’s unique needs and develop a customized solution based on the F5 Application Delivery Platform, which included Load balancer and Global Traffic Management capacity.

Our solution provided FirstBank with an intelligent, fast, secure, and always-on platform that could handle even the most aggressive transaction volume across customers and 3rd party merchants.

We also seamlessly migrated hundreds of existing services from their previous load balancing platform to the new F5 platform, reducing their server footprint from 12 to 6 servers. Our solution was designed to ensure that services across FirstBank’s two active data centers would always be available and provide AI- driven operation for effective diagnostics and high- level service performance.
